FAQs
Prior to joining the group class, an initial assessment/evaluation session is required, during which the instructor makes postural evaluation, analyzes the movement of the client its limitations and assets, make notes on counterindications and cautions and sets short term and long-term goals. Client learns the safety rules, handling of the equipment and the basic repertoire. Based on this evaluation further program is advised and groups that are closer to the client’s level are suggested (in order to achieve maximum results within each group). We try to keep clients of all levels safe, motivated, and challenged with their workouts.
Training three times per week will provide maximum results and is highly recommended. Training two times per week is still very sufficient. As with any workout, your best results are achieved through your commitment!
Yes, all our sessions are by appointment only. We keep our classes small, so reserving a spot in advance is highly recommended.
It is recommended that all participants wear close-fitting clothing in order to allow for the most efficient movement and help the instructor to spot misalignment (T-shirts and baggy pants are not recommended). Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the studio. Socks with sticky soles however are recommended and a towel is advised. Please no belt buckles, zippers or jewelry that could damage the equipment and can cause injury as well. Besides your workout clothes and socks, all you need is yourself and your willingness to learn and have fun!

Private sessions are necessary in order to provide new clients with a basic understanding of the Pilates method. They also allow for individual attention and application of the method. Private sessions are also good for the Pilates enthusiast who is looking to refine their technique, maximize results, or cross train for another event.
Semi-Private sessions are great for those who are looking to workout with a friend or a spouse. The friendly competition keeps both people motivated, and the small student-to-instructor ratio allows for more personalized attention.
Group classes are great because of the energy and sense of community they offer. With a maximum of seven people, every person is closely monitored.
Yes! Whether you have an ongoing condition or you are in recovery, you can still participate. Physicians often recommend Pilates as a part of the rehabilitation process. We make modifications based on your individual injuries and limitations. We insist on taking a private session before joining a group class in order to learn how to modify exercises appropriately for your condition.
Definitely not! Pilates is one of the safest and most effective exercise to adopt at any age.
It is the same system of safe and effective exercises which meet your specific individual needs. It is used to treat a wide range of injuries and conditions, ranging from low back pain to hypermobility and chronic fatigue syndrome. It is also used by elite athletes and dancers to improve essential movement patterns and enhance fitness and performance as well as assisting with injury prevention. It improves mobility, stability, balance and proprioception, posture and overall function.
Yes, there are many benefits if you are doing Pilates during pregnancy! It is possible to work right up to your due date, and we can accommodate your workout as your body changes and your pregnancy progresses. Pilates is also an excellent way to connect and realign your body postpartum. Please make sure your physician has cleared you for exercise.
No, in 2000 United States federal court ruled that Pilates could not be trademarked. As a result of the court’s decision and the growing demand and popularity of Pilates, many weekend teacher-training programs that teach distorted versions of the Pilates method still abound without giving proper and deep knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics of the body, resulting in very shallow understanding and transmission of the method.
We accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards. All sessions must be paid in full prior to service. Private, semiprivate and group sessions are non-refundable.
